Google Bard was just the beginning; the Mountain View company has just announced Gemini, its new Language Model (LLM). Will it be able to surpass GPT-4 (ChatGPT)? Where to access it, and from when?
Gemini, Google’s New AI Model
Gemini is multimodal, possessing a perfect understanding of its environment and context. It can analyze, process, and combine various types of information, including text, code, audio, image, and video. It is not limited to text alone!
Performances
Gemini boasts high performance across numerous domains (Outperforming GPT-4 in 30 out of 32 academic benchmarks!). While OpenAI’s model excels in text, Gemini appears to dominate when it comes to the combined use of multiple domains.
To fully grasp Gemini’s potential and strength, here’s a presentation video:
The Different Versions of Gemini:

- Gemini Pro: A versatile model suitable for a wide range of tasks.
- Gemini Nano: A model capable of running locally!
Availability
Originally expected in 2024, Gemini has surprisingly made its debut!
Gemini Pro is already integrated into Google Bard in English in many countries, except for Europe (due to GDPR).
Gemini Ultra will incorporate an “Advanced” version of Google Bard in early 2024, and it’s approaching quickly.
Gemini Nano has already arrived on the Pixel 8 Pro (https://store.google.com/product/pixel_8_pro?pli=1&hl=fr). It enables automatic responses in WhatsApp conversations (currently only available in English).
